Eco Touch – Car Care that Doesn’t Harm the Environment

Submitted by Connie on July 4, 2009 – 11:30 pm2 Comments

ecotouchlogoI have a 1995 Aerostar van, a hold over from the days when we had kids, carpools, and chaos. I’d like to buy something smaller and more eco-friendly, but that’s not in the budget right now.  But there are ways I can care for my care that aren’t harmful to the environment.

Eco Touch is a superior line of car care products which do not harm the planet or the user. Better yet, it conserves water, eliminates run-off, and saves you time. Their products are made from a blend of non-toxic and biodegradable cleaning agents which though natural, are as effective as their conventional counterparts.  Many of their solvents are derived from a soybean base and their surfactants (coconut-derived) are readily biodegradable.  Eco Touch doesn’t just claim to be a green business, they’ve been approved by Co-op American as a certified green business after undergoing a rigorous approval process.  So far, they’re the only manufacturer of car care products that has been granted this certification.

I had my husband try out the Eco Touch Waterless Car Wash because I use the “never-bother-to-wash-the-car” method of conservation. It works for me. :)  Occasionally I’ll run it through a car wash that recycles and reuses it’s water or another that’s quite a drive  away that uses a waterless formula.  I don’t do it more than once or twice a year because of the cost.  My van is not just a 7-passenger van – it’s the extended version – did I mention it’s huge!

My husband tried out the Eco Touch Waterless Car Wash on my very dirty van and was pretty impressed. It took him a few minutes to get the spray, wait, wipe, and then polish routine down and kept mixing up his towels.  Once he figured out a system, he was able to do about 3/4 of the van in about 45 minutes. Unfortunately, the van is just too big and we really needed more towels.  We ended up cleaning them and then finishing the job. For a small car, two towels would be plenty.

Will I use it again? Nope, but my husband will. I just don’t care enough about the car being clean, but I do care about the environment.  If I see him pulling out a hose and bucket he’s going to be in trouble!

Give Eco Touch Waterless Car Wash or any of their car care products a try; they’re readily available at Whole Foods, Amazon, and other green-leaning retailers. I think you’ll love the clean and shine that results.  It’d be perfect for a Father’s Day, birthday, or holiday gift to your favorite car buff.

Enjoy!

Please note:  I received a waterless car wash kit to sample their product – this did not affect the authenticity of my review.
